Culture of Education
Building a Culture of Education One of our focus areas for the AMYA board is to add more value to our members. Part of our strategy is to develop a consistent Culture of Education. At the AMYA level we plan to do a monthly webinar that is recorded and archived to build a bigger AMYA educational reference library. At the club level we are hoping clubs can also develop a culture of education. What this may look like at the club level is a monthly education event. This could be on or off the water. It might be an introduction to Radio Sailing class where people are invited to attend. A club could do this for free or for a nominal charge to cover expenses. Potential topics: • Tuning class • Building clinic. • Painting and finishing clinic. • Strategy and tactics seminar • Course setting class • Regatta hosting • Race committee training We think the potential benefit of doing consistent monthly effort over long periods of time will result in more new people getting started and skippers continuing to learn and grow over the long term. Request for help: Can you help build a culture of education at your club? Are you willing to host an AMYA Webinar for the AMYA? Thanks for your consideration: Dan Shier
