Thank You to Jim Kandler & Call for Volunteers

From: Dan Shier

Dear AMYA membership,

I am writing a short note of thanks to Jim Kandler. Jim Kandler has done a fantastic job of being our Model Yachting Magazine Editor for many years. Jim created, organized and executed the magazine through many transitions, making sure all the information was organized and published on time so our shiny magazine could end up in our mailboxes. Being the Model Yachting Editor requires incredible attention to detail and discipline to organize everything needed to meet a publishing deadline. I would like to extend a personal and collective thank you from the AMYA membership for all the volunteer work you have done. Thank you, thank you, thank you for all you have done for us and Model Sailing.

That said, we are in search of a new Model Yachting Editor. We are looking for a new Editor to jump right in and start putting together issue number 222. We are looking for a self-motivated individual that wants to create the best Model Sailing Magazine on the planet for our membership and advertisers. Model Yachting Magazine has been a cornerstone of our organization for decades and we want to keep the tradition going. There is pressure to do a digital online version but for now we are still committed to publishing a print version if we can find the right individuals to create and deliver the magazine every quarter.

We also need writers/reporters. We have so many talented members doing fantastic things, we really need help documenting and writing articles. This helps all the AMYA become better by educating and inspiring our newest members. These are some great opportunities to serve the model sailing community and help the new generations of model sailors get on the water with a head start. So hopefully many of you will decide it is your time to help out.

If you are willing to volunteer, please contact me or Len Bose.

Jim Kandler thank you once again for all you have done.
