Day One: Mother nature jinxed us with NW, N and ENE winds in the 2-4 mph range and that`s about what we experienced. After three races, and an attempt in the afternoon to move the course to the outer dock, PRO, Judy Bonanno finally called it a day. First day standings had David Ramos leading Mark Rinehart by two points with Danny Thomas and Sean Bradley close behind.
Day Two: The regatta leadership team, sensing a decent 5-10 mph NE wind, arrived early to set the six buoy W/L course and we were off for a 12-race marathon day of races. We were using CPM`s Anchor Bot marks for the starting line, and we squared the line to multiple windward and leeward mark choices. The day-end regatta standings set the trend as David Ramos, Danny Thomas and Sean Bradley emerged as the top three with Ramos leading Bradley by 27 points with Thomas, and rising star, Drew Beach within 3 points of Bradley. At this point we had 15 races under our belt.
Day Three: The wind forecast predicted very light air but Mom Nature, like your weatherman, was wrong. We enjoyed steady S to SW breezes at 5-8 mph and were able to accomplish eleven races, giving us a total of a 26-race regatta, including three throw-outs. David Ramos kept the hammer down, though Danny Thomas made a bold effort to cut Dave`s lead. In two races, Danny was 11th and 12th at the weather mark and ended up second in both of those races. Of the eleven races sailed today, Dave and Danny won all but one race. Dave`s winning margin was 19 points with Danny edging Sean Bradley by ten points and Drew Beach in fourth, 31 pts behind Sean.
Of mention should be that Dave and Danny won 18 out of 26 races but Sean Bradley added three, and Scott Graf, Glenn Chalder, Tyler Raven, and Scott Mohring each won one. Editor Note: Expect to see these new names to climb up the future leader boards in the regattas to come.
