The word had got around that the San Diego Argonauts were putting on a show! Book them and they will come. And they sure did! A smorgasbord of sailors from across the country, Canada and even a couple of Aussies!

Day 1: Following the measuring in process it was down to business. Commodore Pat Nevitt opened the skippers briefing by welcoming the competitors, introducing international judge Elliot Levy and then handed over proceedings to the Regatta Pro, Fred Rocha. Sail hard, play fair, follow rules, go round those floaty things and finish up there, "Any Questions?" 25 boats split into 3 fleets with racing conducted using the HMS system. Gary Winton's Viss caught some attention early but not nearly as much as when Jess Atkinson turned up and got out his Woody, designed and built by Barry Donaher; this boat is an absolute beauty! Having sailed this boat only a few times and still tweaking it, there was lots of promise. The day was won by David Ryan sailing a Venti, posting 3 bullets for the first 5 races. Quote of the day coming from Sean Fidler to Dave, "Hey! 97!! Who ARE you??" Sean finishing in 2nd and Sean Bradley all the way from New Jersey finishing 3rd.

Day 2: Another great day of racing with the leader board starting to shuffle about and some competitors getting a feel for the term "bubble boy". Throw in a game of "Where's Wally?" and the day had more ups and downs than a runaway pogo stick. Consistency as always, is the winning formula and by the end of the day it was clear which skippers were now 'on the money'. Dennis Rogers came up trumps with Sean Fidler in 2nd and Chris Sullivan the silent achiever, rounding out the top 3.

Day 3: Well, it was go hard or go home! The show hit its peak with sailors aiming to put their stamp on the event and hopefully take home the bacon. The racing for the event had been very close in all fleets and today was no exception. The leaders went head-to-head with all challengers but there was to be no change by the end of play. Dennis Roger's 1st, Sean Fidler 2nd, 3rd Chris Sullivan, George Pedrick 4th and Barry Donaher 5th. Corinthian award went to Steve Kingsley and the Fair Player award went to David Ryan.
