2024 J Boat National Championship regatta held at Cedar Point Marina finished two days of sailing with 22 Races in a 5-9 knots of wind. After a Day of sailing these big boats in the Down the River Race (on Wed) we all attended the kickoff dinner hosted by Laura and Rick Boulay at their beautiful home. Laura and Rick are the hosts for the entire CPM Race week at their Ceder Pointy Marina so a big thank you goes out to them for their generosity and support. We also want to make note of the West Coast Svea Contingent from Sacramento CA that made the trip East to join us. it is not a small undertaking to travel that distance with a trailer full of J Boats. Racing started in relative brisk winds coming in from the NE and the West coast Svea's of Gene Novac and Dan Robinson jumping off the line with a quick 1st and 2nd place finish. The east coast boys were not to be denied, and Dave Ramos pulled off a string of 1st place finishes followed by Mark Fleckenstein Doug Reiger and Scott Graf all sailing Shamrock V's and Brian Kerrigan sailing his beautiful Ranger for nine races on Day one. Day two saw Mark Fleckenstein and Scott Graf come charging back with a number of 1st and 2nd first place finishes. Mark Especially Sailed a fantastic day two of sailing as he was able to really get his boat dialed in for the conditions and close on Dave Ramos and increase his lead on Scott Graf. After sailing 22 races in fantastic conditions Dave Ramos in his Shamrock V was our 2024 National Champion, followed by Mark Fleckenstein in 2nd place and Scott Graf in 3rd place.
