What started out with a forecast of a rainy weekend turned out to only be a few rain showers at night, when we're not there, and absolute great 2 days with a slight overcast to keep the sun from baking us in the mid 90's temp. Typical Texas weather in June was expected and no where near triple digits kept it bearable.

With WSC's promise to always strive to run every event on time, Skipper's Meeting started at 10am with Commodore/Regatta Chairman Ray Seta setting the stage with a few house keeping matters and then invited Mr Greg Norris, Micro Magic's Class Secretary to step up for a few words about the state of the Class and future plans and ideas. Racing was set to get going promptly after Skipper's Meeting with WSC's Eric Gregory acting as our PRO with Sylvia Dimayuga & Josie Camarillo by his side for Line Judge and Score Keeping. After the first 7 races Ray Seta started off strong with no races worse than 3rd, with the next two boats, Ron Stephanz & newcomer to the class Mark Cooper 14 points back. With winds at time at the top of A rigs, some skippers opted for their B rigs to stay in control throughout the course. Going into lunch Seta had a commanding lead! Lunch at WSC events are known to be something special. With the Club';s motto being No One Goes Home Hungry, we did not disappoint! Catered Texas BBQ from the Charcoal Grill was very well received. As racing continued throughout the day with the usual top 3 of Seta, Stephanz, and Cooper usually finishing at the top, skippers Bob Piper , Joe Roddy, William Ramlo, Mike Eades, and Greg Norris was also seen with some top 3 finishes for the day! At the end of the day with 17 races recorded, Seta held a 10 point lead over Cooper with Stephanz just a few points back. This regatta was far from being finished with still another day to go on Sunday!!!

Sunday AM started with already top of A rigs at 9:30am with the winds forecasted to build all day! This is where the wheels started to fall off for Seta, 2022 National Champion, as Stephanz, the 2023 and current National Champion, started his push for the win. As Seta's day started to implode on him with some battery and rigging problems which gave him not 1 but 4 DNF and needed to be rescued a few times, certainly did not help his scores or state of mind of winning the Region 5 Championship at his home club. As Cooper was sailing with a very consistent run of very low scores for the 2nd day of racing is what moved him up. Stpehanz was the king this day as the winds had built up to the point that some skippers had even opted for D-rigs for the 20mph gust at times in the later races. Sail size and control was very important in these conditions. As you can see in the results below that the final outcome did not read the same from the day before by no means. All of the top 8 positions from Saturday evening results had change after Sunday. After 32 races over two days, everyone, I believe had their fill of sailing not to forget we also had a great grilled burgers and hot dogs on Sunday. Did I mention that at WSC regattas you will also be fed Breakfast Tacos and Mexican sweetbread each morning, and even San Antonio's famous Bill Millers chop brisket sandwiches for lunch on Friday during Check-in and Practice races. And let's never forget Mexican Ice Creams we call Paletas throughout the day! Yes.......No One Goes Home Hungry from a WSC Regatta!!!
