2023 Micro Magic National Championship Regatta (NCR)

Sun Coast Model Sailing Club hosted the 2023 Micro Magic National Championship in Punta Gorda, FL on February 8th and 9th. The weather cooperated with winds ranging from 3-12mph. Most skippers stayed on full "A" rigs with a few opting for their B+ rigs. Extremely close racing made for a tight regatta for the podium finishers. Martin Gray had to leave the regatta, missing three races for an important international meeting. Had he competed in those three races the finishes would have been tighter still. Ray Seta, the defending champion, tried valiantly to defend but his longtime friend Ron Stephanz managed to squeak out a narrow victory.
A hearty "Thank You" goes out to the numerous SCMSC volunteers, as many as 11 on a given day, for their tireless efforts that made this a successful regatta. Everything from mark watchers, finish recorders, rescue boat and food presentation allowing the skippers the opportunity to concentrate on racing. The race management was handled beautifully by John Steacy and his crew.
A raffle was held with a full Micro Magic kit from Twisted Hobbys and a set of sails from Pat Dion. Thank you sponsors for supporting our regatta.
